• A Soulmark for A Soulamate -Descendants Fanfiction

    Part 2

    Villains don't have a soul.

    Hence no soulmate.

At least, according to Auradon and their beliefs. But they do have an answer for Auradonians who didn't got a Sign of their Soulmark. Because, there's always is an explanation. It's about age, it's about some spark, it's depending of a lot of thing because their soul are pure here in Auradon, unlike Villains.

But Villains do have a soul. And most of all, the Villains Dids who are innocent from their parents' crimes.

"Are you going to separate them? They're soulmate. We all know about how evil your mother was and how you want to be in her good grace by isolating blueberry princess here but you're going to be as ignoble as her and putting actual soulmates apart?"

Uma's speech was embraced by her crew's booing, so much more numerous than Mal's squad.

"So what, Shrimpy? You want to point the obvious by stating what everyone knows? What about your schemes?"

Uma frowned at the name. It was the exact reason her hate for the purple hair girl, but she was composed enough to not attack her right here. Harry wasn't that much of a mental and was ready to put up his sword and defend his captain's honor but someone else speaks up before him.

"Don't call her that, Mal. Uma may be manipulative and cunning but the nickname was a mean and juvenile call, that should stay in the past."

Mal wasn't the only one surprised by Carlos' words, Uma raised her brows pleasantly and his soulmates grinned. But the boy's attention was on her leader. Who didn't want to have this title anymore.

A snort came out of Maleficent's daughter. She looked cruelly at him and let out the crushing sentence.

"Already her dog and barking at her ennemies? I see how loyalty you put on those who gives you shit."

Carlos' face fell and he felt like being punched in the guts, and just harder than an actual blow. Mal called him by the name he feared the most and doubted his fidelity. She saw him as an opportunist that would turn his back to take any advantages offered to him.

"Fine. Just go and waggle your tail at another woman of power."

It hurt. It's so painful to face the truth that he never wanted to see. Mal's right, he's always under a woman's grasp. First, his mother, then Mal came and finally Uma. The only girl who didn't use him like a toy and treated him finely was Evie and he also lost her by choosing Uma and her crew. He's always messing everything up and one day he's gonna fail and fall so hard.

Carlos woke up in the sway of his hammock. He took a look around the Lost Revenge cabin. One of its cabins at least, because the boat is freaking huge for an Auradonians garbage.

Well, this is surely how Uma proves herself as great leader. She'd take all the lost children in her crew and promise them a better future than the life on the Isle. Maybe it's not much by living on the wharf but people got much more food and less problem here than inside the Isle. And they're basically living by themselve, exchanging with or scaring the others only when it's necessary. While Mal would do it so she can put up her statue as the mistress of Evil's daughter.

The boy shook out those thoughts. It's not good to compare the two girls, he didn't need to do it now, nor anymore.

    "Wandering, De Vil boy?"

It's been three days since his choice and he's now living on the Lost Revenge with his crew. Because he belonged with them from now on. But he would never be used to be sneaked at. Through he had to, the pirates are quite sneaking. Especially if it's a Hook.

CJ is Harry's younger sister, they're the same age but the pirate acts with so much arrogance and mischief that Carlos felt small, which isn't new but little embarrassing. She's not really in Uma's crew. She's just a pirate. Not a random one, but Hook's spawn, minde you. And you know, Captain James Hook gave order and not the other way around, so CJ may be the commander of her own crew, or not.

There's more about the Hooks siblings but Carlos already had to deal with the craziness and possessiveness of his soulmate, he ain't about to play into CJ's mind game. So he just shrugged, hoping to be left in peace by the time dawn comes. Not such luck.

    (Never, not with a Hook.)

"Thinking about Malsie, again? Careful, wouldn't want to hook you because you're unfaithful to my dear brother."

"Leave him alone, CJ. Not like you would really defend your brother's honor."

"Oh, you're right. I would hook him not because he'd cheat on Harry but because it's fun."

"What I said," Freddie Facilier sighs.

If Carlos didn't know how to converse with CJ, he knew even less with the elder daughter of Dr. Facilier. She's not on Uma's crew either, neither in CJ's. They say they're partner. Carlos used to wonder if it's in general or just in crime, but seeing how the black girl would slightly touch the pirate's dark mark and making it blow in colors, he had the answer. Since the hole in the barrier (made by him), Signs of Soulmark appeared on random habitants of the Isle. Most of them keep it secret because soulmates was as taboo as having feelings here. Carlos could hide it, Cj could too, her Soulmark was just on her hand that she'd cover with gloves on daytime. By night, standing close to Freddie, she'd put it off and let the other girl touch it just to see the spot splitting in rainbow colors.

Carlos didn't say anything and just look at the horizons till the sun came out. With that, the light shining from the mainland of Auradon.

"I hate this place so much. I wish I could destroy it," CJ started again.

"A shame that the only time when the barrier come down was just for a mere second."

"I swear, one day, I'm going to break through this shitty barrier."

"Won't happen. Except if it's by accident," Carlos mumbled to himself.

    But he was heard.

"What'd do you know?" CJ sneered at him.

"Well, I'm the one who did it."

There's beat of silence and Carlos' worry that he may not have said the right thing.

    "Come again ?"

    What he said.

"The hole in the barrier from last month, I'm the one who did it, by accident."

    "You crack the barrier down?"

"By accident." Carlos accentuates this part.

He had to, it's not like he could do it again. Otherwise, he would already be out of the Isle.

    Well, could he?

    He could.

That's at least what the others are convinced.

Later that day, he was summoned by his captain. And he felt a pang in his chest when a large reception committee was awaiting for him. He wondered if he'd done something wrong and if he's going being lynched by the pirates, whereas he's Harry and Gil's soulmate. But after a close look, the group wasn't made up of only pirates. There's others gangs in the mix. And most of them were not in good term with Mal. How surprising. Maleficent daughter did have the worst reputation being the baddest of the Villains Kids.

"So, freckles, do you have something to tell us?" Uma starts.

Carlos exchanged a look with Harry and Gil, who happened to attend this meeting too.

He's utterly confused by the situation. Did he have something to tell them? To the, like, two of the great leader of VK, who happened to also rule at their own evil school of the Isle. Well, no, Carlos clearly has nothing to say.

"Just tell them what you tell us this morning." Freddie snickered in help.

Which isn't helpful at all. He didn't even know why she's here. Or CJ, for that matter.

    "What did I say?"

What could have he say for them to gather an assembly like that?

"You're the one who broke a hole into the barrier," Mad Maddy drawled, losing little patience at his obliviouness.

"By accident," was his first reaction.

Then, he wondered how she knew that. It's not like CJ and Freddie would have tell her, they're not even in the same gang. CJ's in no-one's gang safe her own.

In fact, it's Freddie that let it slipped in front of her younger sister Celia, who happened to loiter in Maddy's turf and to save her own life she had to say something useful. Carlos would have know that if he was observant enough to pass through the Gastons huge posture. Little Celia was held down quite pitifully. Which would also explain the Freddie's presence, and her soulmate.

"You did what?" Uma asks again.

The younger boy's starting to think it's a really bad thing. But then again, it help him find his soulmate, and lose his alliance with Mal...

"He notched the barrier magic, what's so incredible?" Ginny Gothel, Maddy's second in hand, groans.

"What we should focus is he notched accidentally Fairy Godmother's barrier magic."

The Gastons share a look, wondering what's the difference between her first and second part, but the last member of the witch's squad speaks up.

"Meaning that if he did it the first time by accidentally, why couldn't he do it again, but purposefully, so we could escape this place." Anthony Tremaine waved his hand to put more emphasis.

    The pirates hold their breath.

And Carlos couldn't register the words. Like he can totally understand one by one but put it together, it just seems incredible. As in irrealizable.

"But I was just messing with my TV post so I could have more channels than the two allowed!"

"About that red cable?" Harry chimed.

His soulmate nods and is quite surprised that the Hook remember.

He also thought it cute, because it was their first words, along with Gil's drawing.

"So? You did get more channels and it also happen to open the fricking barrier for like ten seconds, which allowed some of us to have those weird Sign. You just have to know what you did so you could do it again."

And well, Anthony Tremaine did want to have right of what he's saiying.

Carlos just look at his Sign. Their Soulmark. The Tremaine boy had an eye with several color instead of just plain black. It was a mix between aqua green, grey and blue. Colors that each member of their squad had. On the other hand, the Gastons got one blue eye and the other a splash between black, grey and aqua green. Same for Ginny Gothel, she got one grey eye and the other with the three others colors. Only Maddy doesn't have this signature bicolor eyes. Hers are just aqua green.

For whatever reason, even if you know who your soulmate is/are, the other didn't necessarily have the same mark. Usually, the Villains Kids just put it on how broken they were.

"And we should help you, because?" Uma intervenes.

"Come on, Uma. Even if you got to trick the chastened Villains adults, you can't deceive me. Am the greatest witch on the land, while you're from the sea. I know you want to escape this place as much I do with your little crew."

The captain didn't answer anything so Carlos took it as sign to concede at this very tempting idea to escape the Isle.

"Yeah, but you have to consider that after the accident, Auradon's must have put more protection since. Even if I do find how I did it, there will probably have more layer of protection."

And this mere thought deter him.

"Do you really think that we came without a plan?"

Now Carlos just want to know how she had the time to plan it all when she knew he's the actor of the hole only this morning.

Uma and Maddy made a sorta alliance.

They have the same aim but weren't really on the same side, you know? At least, that's what Carlos get from what Harry explained to him. Girl's just happy to see his brothers having the same thought as his, a.k.a leaving this Isle and their abusive father to live happily ever after with their soulmate. Not that the twins knew what a soulmatewais or even used the expression of 'happily ever after', because it's too... Auradon, ew.

It took a week for Carlos to figure how he broke through the barrier the first time (by tinkering his TV post again) and a day of how he's going to do it again. Then, another day to think about the locomotion. Of course, they're going to use the Lost Revenge as mean of transport but the spot where they're going to holer is underground. Because, only Evil knows, the barrier didn't bear more layer here as Maddy makes sure of it. How, Carlos wasn't sure he want to know, but it's quite annoying since a ship is meant to sail on the water and not under. He came up with some idea for the first problem, just needed some science. As for the second one, he just has to build a waterproof coating.

    How hard could it be?

But to have enough time to make all that, he needed helping hands. And if Devon and Yzla can provide him by giving advice about mixture of witchcraft or even parts to tinker with, he just want to collaborate with his friend Evie. They understood each other, with their smart mind.

    How's our genius tech doin'?

Carlos had to admit he's quite impressed how Harry came to progress his writing. Gil isn't the one writing something and much prefer doodling, which is conforting on his own way. They thought that once they're in the same band, crew, the Soulmark would vaniched as it appeared but they could still communicate and Carlos won't be the one complaining since it's useful when they were separate like now.

Fairly fine. Just need to have a word with the captain.

Sure He knew that meant they would be here too. What he didn't expect is to find his crew with Maddy and her posse.

Well, he just have to use his orators skills. Which he doesn't have any.

"You want to include other VK in... That?" Maddy reformulates his messy words.

"Yes. I mean, they also didn't deserve to be here. They didn't choose it."

"Some do content to be evildoers," Anthony snorts.

He must be thinking about his evil siblings, as he calls them. But Carlos knew that he had at least one relatives that didn't bear even an ounce of badness. In fact, he even knew her name, Dizzy Tremaine, because Evie can't stop bragging about the cutie who shared the same fashion sens.

"Then, we proposes to those who need it."

"Well, but then, we're gonne need another boat."

Even if the Lost Revenge is great, it won't be huge enough to keep twenty or more children and preado.

"I'm sure Harriet could lend us her ship and herself," Harry assures with a grin.

The first born of captain Hook was not informed about the escape, Carlos guessed.

That's what he meant when he say there's more to say about the Hook siblings. Even through they got each other's back, they do not talk much other than teasing.

"Ok, anything else or you have another request for your machine."

    "About that...."

Convincing the others to imply Mal's gang wasn't easy. In fact, it was tiring and he had to use a lot of words he didn't know he had. But eventually, Uma's grudge against the purple hair girl fad since she steals her Ally - him- and for Maddy to jive about her former friend (yeah, another one, Mal sure knew how to cahnge childhood friend to worst ennemy).

"Fine, if you can convince her to came. Wouldn' t want her to scurry at our sight," the green haired witch sneered wickedly.

Carlos was actually planning on talking to Evie first, because the princess had more speech than him. But to have Evie by his side, he also had to use words to persuade her of his good -harmless-intention.

The thing with Mal was that, she has the worst reputation on the Isle not just because of her mother but also with her own behavior. She's intentionally bad. Maybe having a mother like Maleficent is a must but not everyone is bad because their Villain parents are.

    Take Carlos for exemple.

When he could barely stand by his own or even speak clearly, his mother made him read so he could do all the chores she needs to maintain her dear furs that Auradon let her have. At the young age of four, little Carlos can wash, dry and smooth her furs like no one else, which would be and understatement since nobody had to do that to actual dogs furs. He also had to do all the other houseworks like sweeping, laundry and dishes. Not there are a lot for the latter since there isn't much to eat on the Isle. So he did the replenishment too. Like the throw out of Auradon. But since he's malnourished, his tiny frame couldn't got much when all the bigger person with more despair to have the more left over. Better that than nothing, you see. So, it let him only books or other papers that no one see any interest here. No one safe Carlos, that's where he got all his knowledges about science tech. To avoid being beaten or at least less than usual, he had to go to the market place to steal some so his mother can have a meal, which is a luxe he can't have. Stealing wasn't the thing he's the best, but with the small body of his, he could easily pass unseen. Until there are better thief than him, like Jafar's son. Till his body develops (or not, at this rate of undernourishement), he kept stealing food at the market place whenever he can, but had no choice to buy his mother's cigar, which are coincidentally all sold by Jafar's shop. Or at the wharf, since the leftover land there first. But no one would defy the pirates by stealing them. Well, no one as desperate as Carlos, who was send under the water more than any other Islanders, where come his swimming skills. At least, he got some packs of cigar for Cruella. As he thought that affection and kindness don't exist, not on the Isle, he got the kitten Beelzebub at five years old (or what seemed five years of existence) from Evie, Evil Queen's daughter. Because the girl was celebrating her sixth birthday, something only a daughter of a queen could have and only some privileges are invited. Later, having befriending the girl, he learned that Cruella's treatment to him isn't the usual parents would have, then again, the Isle is nothing usual on Auradon's standard. Neither is stealing or uneducating.

Same for Evie. The little evilette was treated albeit better than the De Vil, but was as under feed than the former, because it'd distort her figure, were Evil Queen's screeching words. She was trained and raised in the concept to be royalty and had to find a royal partner. So, not staying too close with all the minions the Isle is populated. Which also mean being alone for the rest of her life since she's been condamned on the Isle because of the very person who want her out. And using the fact to be banished by Maleficent herself, because Evil Queen Grimhilde didn't invite little Mal to her daughter's birthday, she worked her offspring out to be the fairest of all and would chastised her if only one bad step is trespassed. Evie grew up insecure and in loniless. Even when her mother invited other children at her birthday party, but the aim was clear : it's not for her to have friends (which isn't even a word on the Isle of Lost) nor allies, but to show them how highty and royal she is, unlike them. But then she got Othello at her sixth birthday and met Carlos, the little boy who she gave Lucifer's kitten. And two loneliest souls could only be attracted and befriend in the secret. Besides, with their same mind of science, they could change the Isle. And Evie would know that even if she couldn't be as fair as her mother want her to be, she could be bright and beautiful inside.

Carlos just wish that she still has the soft spot for him even after his... Well, treason.

He waited till the sunset to knock at the castle across the way and fidgeted with his hands as the answer come. The blue hair girl is still so stunning after two weeks of not seeing her. But now, she's also really stunned to see him at her doorstep.

"Please don't close the door. I'd like to have a word with you."

    "You want to what?"

"You helping me to immerse a ship. Like a submarine but not really because it's not like we could create a submarine with the garbage Auradon let us. But I was thinking about... About all the experiments we did before... Well, before we stop."

He hoped his rambling didn't dispose her help. He really needed it and she too, because it could only be good for her in the end. Even if he won't tell her that now, because Uma makes him promise. Let them stew.

They deserve to be in the dark for once.

"Why? So you can impress your soulmates?"

"They don't need me to do that to be impressed. Wait. It comes out wrong. It's not really for them."

"Oh no? But they're the only one that got a ship."

"Look. Evie, I need your help. I know you probably don't want to deal with me, being in different gang, but I... I miss our experiment session. I know you do too. Because you're so much more than you let the rest of the Isle believe and..."

He just missed his best friend, OK?

"Mal wouldn't be happy about that."

    Understatement.

Mal is never happy and could be quite pissed that another of her minion play behind her back.

"What Mal doesn't know couldn't hurt her."

"You'd be surprise what could really hurt her."

And Carlos didn't have an answer for that. Because he really didn't know Mal that much.

"Fine, I'll help you with your experiment, but it's the last time..."

    Fair enough.

But Carlos didn't give his last word.

It took them three days to create this submerge coat and two others days to put on the two pirate boats.

Evie was more welcomed than expected, at least no-one really threatened her while on the ship and Uma didn't snarls at the girl on sight. Gil was a cutie like always and was talking to her jolly like the incident two weeks ago didn't happen. Harry acted like his usual self, little crazy mind and flirty but Carlos liked it better than hostility. But now the tension is gone, Carlos has to tell them what's going on.

But first to Mal, because she's Evie's leader.

"Well, if that isn't Shrimpy's new minions."

By the way she drawls, Carlos could think she's using purposely the mean name but after working two days with his best friend and talking more they did in a year of relationship, Carlos could decipher some under feeling unsaid.

Even if he couldn't place a name on it. Yet.

"What do you want?" Jay asked when he doesn't say anything.

He glances at Evie, as is knowing something they don't. Probably he did know about their little hang out.

"I want to make a proposition."

"Oh yeah? From your own person or your boss?" Mal almost sneered.

Or she did, but for the sake's of his crew, he's going to dismiss it and keeping on his speech.

"Both...i guess. What I want to propose is really simple. Would you like to get out of here?"

Silence took upon them and the three of Mal's gang look at him, dumbfounded.

    "Tiny, if it's a prank or a joke, I swear I-"

"It's not a joke! Nor a prank! I wouldn't do that! It's not something to kid around, I was never that serious about something I did that could actually to... To esc-"

"Wait, wait, wait. So you're saying that your doing could actually make us... Get out?" Jay cuts him off.

    "I- yes! That's what I'm saying."

"And why, in Evil's great side, should we believe you?"

Carlos has to stop at this.

They know that he's good at tech, maybe even great and combining with Evie's knowledge in science they could do wonder, but they did not know (at least Mal and Jay don't) that he's the one who broke through the barrier (on accident but well). The only way they could thrust him would be telling them the truth.

    But would they believe him?

They kind of thought it's Evie's doing.

(And he kind of gave them reason by not standing up at the time)

"The hole that happened two months ago? I did it."

He breathed heavily because he realized that he just confessed something about him.

He would never tell them anything by himself like the fact he got soulmates or even their identity. Or the hole, that thing he did that make them close, the cause of their... alliance, sort of.

And... well, now, he's really nervous about their reaction. Evie's looking at him with awe, like she can't believe that he finally admit it, while Jay had that thoughtful expression like he got his guess confirmed. But most of it, Mal. Her reaction was what he's seeking for because she's the leader. His frightened feeling toward her lately changed of need to be proved, the same feeling he got when he entered Uma's crew. One flickered of her head and he knew that he had to reconsider his feeling. But he's just so glad that he could have both his friends (screw them if they would never call it that, because he surely does see them as friends) and his crew (where his soulmates are).

Uma snorted once they're at sight but otherwise didn't comment.

Carlos knew that she put up some real patience here, because Mal was wrong about the 'shrimp incident'. But to be honest, she was also influenced by her mother evilness. And weren't they all? Some of them just decided to act out of their path and live the life they deserve and not to be the pawn of their parents.

"So you did act behind my back," Mal spoke up once Uma has gathered all the Villain Kids of the trip and explained how they're going to escape.

Besides him, Evie gulps laboriously. He's ready to stand up to defend his best friend, like he used to feel so protective over the princess, but Harry stepped in.

"Does it matter? We're going to leave this hell thanks to those two genius, couldn't you just be proud like everyone else?"

"We may once we do leave the Isle", Jay says calmly.

But the fact he's raising doubts wasn't better.

"Gee, chill the f out, you crazy pirate. I was just asking for confirmation. Don't put some shit in my mouth where it don't belong."

So they start bickering while Carlos is asked to be on the bow head.

    It's the time.

He managed to sneak between all the kids who were more amazed to be under water and not drowning and reached where Uma stood with Gil and his brothers and Maddy.

    "So, do your thing, pup."

The aqua hair witch cackled loudly when Uma shot her a glare to name calling one of her shipmate. Even through Carlos himself wasn't that annoyed by the name, he flushes happily to note the teal hair witch cares about him enough to know it would bother him. He fumbled his engine and shakily brushed the button but didn't press till their ship was in front of the barrier.

For a still moment, nothing happened.

The barrier was as present as they're imprisoned even through the ray of light is shot at it and he's really scared that doesn't work -that his hopes were falses, that he made everyone hope for nothing- but then a lizard is formed where the beam is aimed. It expended to the point of large hole and then Uma quickly demand the crew to propel the ship so the second shipment could pass too.

    And they're out.

It's overwhelming because people ware shouting and yelling and Carlos' not sure what he could make out of it.

And then, Maddy's purple eyes are glowing and changing for other color and the Gaston twins just tackled her and... and Uma's legs were shifting onto those eight limbs that look like tentacles and next thing he knew she's out of the ship coat and swimming around them. Just like...

"Ay, captain, you're a beautiful mermaid," Harry's voice shout from somewhere on the deck.

Gil just laughs happily while throwing his arms around Carlos' shoulder.

"Alright, I know, you all are glad to feel those things that you couldn't on the Isle but don't forget to move forward or you could be trap inside again."

Panic surged as fast as excitement blown up earlier to discover an adult on the ship. And not anyone.

Hades, the god of unerground, father of Hadie and...

    "Dad?"

    And Mal.

"Hey, Mallie. I know, I know, fancy to see you here, but reunion had to wait because you're still on Auradon's radar! So if you don't move, like, quickly, we're going to be swallowed by Fairy Godmother's ugly magic barrier and return on our step."

    "But-"

"Quick! I'd like to help but if I use my power, I fear the coat your friends made won't stay in place as it's not strong enough to bear powerful force. No offence."

    "No-...none taken."

But Mal is still gobsmacked and can't move.

Thankfully, Uma seemed to have heard all of this and just acted from under and pushed the two ships far from the Isle of the Lost and out of the water.

As expected, the pression and the time get rid of and the coats vanished.

Uma dived on the deck and was ready to shout orders to move forward but Hades was faster and clenched his fists making them glow. They almost got blind but the ships were just moving on the water to Auradon.

    "And now?" Maddy prompted.

Hades cackled madly at her innocent question. "Now, you pull a feast to celebrate your freedom!"

"We don't have much to celebrate."

"What kind of preparation is that? Fortunatly, I did some of my own, Hadie."

    "Yes, dad."

"Wait, wait, wait! What are you doing here?"

"Oh, Mallie, you're not the one who want to quit the Isle. I mean, what a god like me is doing there?"

Carlos turned away from the conversation because Gil is leading him to Uma and Harry. The latter was checking their captain and mostly her arm. There are scribblings that could only belonged to Carlos' and Gil's and Harry's handwritting. Carlos' eyes shoot up to meet her and they were twinkling of mirth and happiness. And he just felt the same.

They landed to a shore near Cindrellasbrug, but not really close because they may leave the Isle of Lost and its inhabitant, they definitly don't want to meet Auradonians and risk their luck to be pulled back.

Once they all set to a place in the woods, in mainly treehouse made quickly, Hades tells them he's leaving the camp.

    "And where will you go?"

    "Miss me already, Mallie?"

    "Just tell me."

"Well, I'm a god, my place belong to Olympus."

"You're not going to claim their power again, aren't you?"

"I'm not stupid, I won't do the same mistakes again. No, I'm going to claim my place in the canon and settle my kingdom underground. Because I'm the god of underground and wealthiness. Here, for you, a departure gift."

That said, he hands her daughter a sack of treasure as worthy as all the gold Auradon could afford. And they would need that if some children's need of wandering in the city meant anything.

"Oh, and, Mal? Don't make the same mistake as me, and embrace your soulmate when you can."

The last words made the purple hair girl flush but she didn't say anything.

Then, the god vanishes in the thin air, having probably already made his farewells to his son, just because he loved the effect.

"Because Hades has a soulmate?" CJ Hook snickered.

"Well, you clearly never listen in history if you don't know Hades' story. Everyone knows he and Persephone's love story," Jay answers curtly.

"Besides, everyone has a soulmate. The mark were just blocked by the barrier," Freddie said touching CJ's mark and making it glow.

    And her's, to Carlos' surprise.

"You mean, since we're out of the Isle, all the children have a soulmark?"

Carlos' head shot up to Evie. The shake in her voice shouldn't have surprised him but he is, and more when her eyes meet his with...hope?

"Yup. Didn't you all feel the same?" Freddie Facilier answered back.

The blue hair girl didn't say anything, just lowered her head, not wanting to mee anyone's eyes.

"Wait, but, why didn't it show up for some of us when the Hole happened?" Jay speaks up.

"You mean, Mallie's daddy didn't tell you?"

Mal's eyes glowed green when hearing Maddy's guffaws.

But she promptly calms herself when meeting her heterochromia eyes. Inside the magic barrier, the witch's eyes were aqua green, now, outside and free of restriction, her eyes are now with one aqua green and the other a mix of blue, grey and black. Just like her soulmates Anthony, Ginny and the Gastons.

"The barrier is magic since Fairy Godmother is the creator, hence it contains all the magic users. And when our friend Carlos broke it two months ago by fiddling some tv post, it allowed the non-magic users to have their Soulbond. But the hole only happened for like ten second, right? It wasn't enough to unlock all the soulbond of all the Villains Kids."

Freddie's explanation was quite understable but, Carlos just have one question.

    "Jay is magic user?"

"Well, Jafar was a sorcerer and a djinn for a court short of time. Before being imprisoned, I mean."

They met eyes and Carlos accepted his answer. He didn't get the occasion to ask him what is his Soulmark or if he even knew who is his soulmate that Maddy required the precious stones left by Hades.

In fact, he didn't get to talk to any of them because Uma wanted to disband her pirate crew.

He didn't understand all the why but Gil and Harry accepted her decision, so Carlos did too. He only had a guess that it has to do with the Soulbound but otherwise, he didn't question and was just happy to have all three of his soulmates with him.

But Uma knew better, she always did.

"Ok, Dragon, when are you going to talk?"

    "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Sure, and my mom didn't steal Ariel's voice to marry her prince."

"Well, at the end, she didn't marry Prince Eric." Uma just lifts a brow at the deflection.

"So, you know," Evie said while nodding slowly.

"Please. I would recognize purple's writting."

And Carlos didn't know how to react at this statement.

"What do you mean? I thought it was your writting."

"You're cute, freckles. Are you telling me that you never noticed how many writings there are?"

    "I thought..."

Mal cut him off. "More like you didn't want to think. Which I understand, why would you want to even think about this possibility? You don't want to be bond to your captain's Nemesis."

"Please, don't under-estimate 'Los because of your self-deprecation. Our mate is nicer than you paint him," Harry can't help but speaks up too.

Standing beside him, Gil's pulled out a huge cheeky grin.

"So, Carlos, you won't be upset if we tell you that our Soulmark is also communicating with each other by writting on our self?"

"Easy, princess, don't sound too hopeful," Jay kindly joked while Mal affectionaly rolled her eyes.

"Are you kidding me?" Carlos finally voiced out.

The three of the gang flinched, not expecting that.

Albeit, they should, they did reject him not long ago because of Mal's selfishness.

But then Carlos keep going without noticing it. "I was hoping so hard that we'd be mates! And now, you're just telling me that..."

He couldn't finish what he's going to say, and he isn't even sure he will, when Evie takes his arm and pulled up his sleeve to write something.

    It's true, we are.

The same words, with the exact same writing appeared on her arm and he nearly cried.

Because Evie's always so neat and she's willing to dirty herself for him, and he just love his bestfriend so much. But his tears did show up because Jay and Mal are also showing their arm inked of the same words. Same for Uma, and of course, Harry and Gil.

    "So..."

"I'm not dreaming? This is real?"

"Well, depends, do you often dream about us?" Mal teased him.

"More than you could think," Carlos answers honestly.

    And thrown, the fae was.

She exchanged a look with Evie who's as taken aback and flushed, but Jay recovered first while shooting a glare to three smirky pirates.

    "Uma's right. You're cute."

And it's Carlos' turn to blush at the compliment, Harry rolls exaggeratedly his eyes.

    "Of course, Uma's right."

Not dejected by the comment, Jay wrapped his arm around the smaller boy and he's quickly surrounded by many more arms.

"So, we're soulmate of each other! Together, we'll be unstoppable!" Gil chirps up.

Squeezed between his dear friends and ex-pirates, who were the most important people of his life, Carlos couldn't say better and he's so glad how great his life turned out to be.

Little does he know that their polymate isn't completed yet as a fancy and calligraphic writing appeared on each of their arm without them noticing.

    Is it?
